ABOUT PROJECT

The #BreakTheFake project was initiated by the public organization Communities Army of Ukraine (CAU).

Since 2022, we have been organizing actions in support of Ukraine as a symbol of the civilized world's struggle against unprovoked Russian aggression. Thanks to the support of EU citizens and the great struggle of Ukrainians for freedom, we have managed to organize hundreds of support actions around the world.

By combining our resources with the Center for Strategic Communications and Information Security, as well as fact-checking journalists, we have developed the #BreakTheFake project, which aims to share our experience with European colleagues on the challenges posed by the Russian Federation's information war against the free world.

We sincerely believe that the truthful media must prevail, and this requires professionals to join forces and share their experience in combating sources of fake news, manipulation and disinformation.

The ability to freely express one's thoughts is not only an advantage of democracy, but also a responsibility to society. Manipulation, lies, and propaganda are tools used by authoritarian regimes to destabilize free societies. A responsible citizen is obliged to respond to these challenges, and a responsible society is obliged to make decisions about the sources that spread narratives that spoil relations between people.
